IP Code testing is regulated in Europe by the CEI EN/IEC 60529 standard 'Degrees of protection provided by enclosures (IP Code)', which is capable of establishing a degree of protection for the internal parts of any equipment or electrical material, whose nominal voltage does not exceed 72.5 kV.
This standard allows for the indication, through the IP code (Degree of Protection), of the level of protection of enclosures for electrical materials, against access to hazardous internal parts of the enclosure and against the penetration of foreign solid bodies (including dust) and water.
IP tests of any degree according to the standards:
- CEI EN/IEC 60529 - Degrees of Protection Provided by Enclosures (IP Code)
- CEI EN/IEC 60335 - Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety
- CEI EN/IEC 60034-5 - Rotating electrical machines, Part 5: Degrees of protection provided by the integral design of rotating electrical machines (IP)
- DIN 40050-9 (sostituita da ISO 20653) - Road vehicles; degrees of protection (IP-code); protection against foreign objects; water and contact; electrical equipment (Replaced by ISO20653 below)
- ISO 20653 - Road vehicles — Degrees of protection (IP code) — Protection of electrical equipment against foreign objects, water and access
